Here is a nice contemporary Native American turquoise and silver bracelet created by Navajo Eddie Johnson. This large handmade silver bracelet is set with a row of natural Kingman turquoise cabochons (19 stones total). The stones are offset with a silver overlay step design above and below. The stones are all in excellent condition, with no cracked or loose stones, set in scalloped bezels.
The bracelet measures 1-1/8 inch wide and the inside end-to-end measurement is 5-5/8 inch plus there is a 1-1/4 inch gap. It weighs 51 grams. My wrist is 6 inches around and the bracelet is a bit too large for me.
Brand new and in perfect condition. Certificate of Authenticity and gift box included with your purchase. Hallmarked by the artist, Eddie Johnson.
STERLING SILVER OVERLAY TECHNIQUE. This technique uses multiple layers of sterling silver soldered together to create a three dimensional effect. The top layer is a handmade, hand cut overlay created from a sheet of sterling that is then bonded to the base layer of sterling. The base layer background is usually oxidized, which turns the silver surface black, and is often scratched or stamped. The oxidation brings out a contrast between the two pieces and makes the individual designs more visible.
