These beautiful vintage Native American sterling silver earrings are decorated with traditional Navajo silverwork and set with mysterious opalescent shells or stones. My impression is that these may be Gold Lip Mother of Pearl shells, but they are almost too yellow or gold. Possibly amber, opals or glass?
The earrings came out of the old Covered Wagon Indian Trading Post, from a collection of jewelry belonging to the estate of the previous owners of this Trading Post, Ann and Manny Goodman. The trading post is still located in Old Town Albuquerque on the plaza, but under much different ownership.
Excellent condition. circa 1970s. As is the case more often that not with the earlier Native American jewelry, the earrings are not marked for silver content or maker. However, I guarantee these are made from sterling silver. 2.6 grams each.
