Harry H. Begay has been making silver jewelry for over 40 years. His work is ingot work, meaning that it is hand wrought in the traditional style. Unlike many modern silversmiths who use sterling silver products purchased from a jewelry supply house (like sheet silver, triangle wire, twist wire, etc.), Harry makes every part of his jewelry and begins by melting silver ingots in a crucible, pouring it out and hammering it into the desired shapes. Such work requires multiple annealings (heating and cooling the metal) between hammering and is practiced by few Navajo silversmiths today. This makes Harry's work very collectible and sometimes difficult to obtain. We have been waiting many months for his rings.
