Navajo artist Calvin Peterson created this ring featuring a 14K gold overlay Man in the Maze design on a sterling silver ring shank. Please ignore the reflections seen in the face of the ring.

The face of the ring is 7/8 by 5/8 inches and the ring weighs about 22 grams. Size 11-1/2.

Brand new and in perfection condition. Hallmarked 14K and Sterling and with the lizard hallmark of Calvin Peterson. Gift box and Certificate of Authenticity included with your purchase.

Calvin makes his rings in a variety of sizes and weights. This is a bigger and heavier ring so please keep that in mind when comparing prices.

It has become difficult to find new work by Calvin Peterson; I have been told he has moved to Hawaii and comes back to New Mexico infrequently.

The overlay technique uses multiple layers of sterling silver or gold soldered together to create a three dimensional effect. The top layer is a handmade, hand cut overlay created from a sheet of 14K gold that is then bonded to the base layer of sterling. The base layer background is usually oxidized, which turns the silver surface black. The oxidation brings out the contrast between the two pieces and makes the individual designs more visible.
