Navajo artist Nelson Morgan created these three dimensional butterfly maiden earrings from sparkling sterling silver. Navajo artist Nelson Morgan is one of the most well-known kachina character jewelry artists in the southwest and is related to Bennie Ration.
The maidens measure 2 inches long by 1-1/8 inch wide. The maiden is wearing a little squash blossom necklace and her body is a shadowbox set with a cut-out peekaboo design. The wings are stamped with subtler designs.
The unique feature of these earrings is that on the lower back of the earrings there are sterling silver hooks from which you can hang interchangeable beads, stones if you so desire. That feature makes these very versatile earrings! See last two photos.
