Up for your consideration is this Native American handmade Sterling Silver buckle with three natural turquoise stones, created by Zuni master silversmiths Robert & Bernice Leekya. Robert Leekya jewelry is always adorned with natural, gem quality turquoise and this buckle is no exception. The buckle and matching bolo is about 10 years old. Robert recently died, so his older jewelry is becoming very collectible.
The buckle measures 2-3/4 by 2 wide and weighs 53.6 grams.

Robert Leekya is the son of famous Zuni jeweler Leekya Deyuse. His father began teaching him the art of jewelry making in the 1940's. In the 1950's. Robert began working in the nugget style. He and Dan Simplicio were among the first to make nugget jewelry. Robert & his wife Bernice have worked in both gold and silver. The Leekya'a work is becoming increasing difficult to obtain due to Robert's death in 2019.
