This incredible Longhorn Kachina pin/ pendant is a wonderful example of traditional Zuni inlay jewelry, created by well-known Zuni artist, Eldred Martinez. This striking pin/pendant of Longhorn Kachina is made of sterling silver and raised inlay of turquoise, jet, mother of pearl and spiny oyster shell. The pendant measures about 2-1/2 long by 2-1/4 wide. The clip-on style bale can handle a chain up to 3/8 wide. Weighs 25.5 grams.
Saiyatasha (Longhorn) Kachina is also referred to as the Rain Priest of the North. It is said that his long left eye is to bring long life to good people and he is known as a priest, a warrior and a hunter who has the ability to control the weather amongst several other abilities.
