This incredible vintage Zuni Snake Dancer ring is hallmarked Zuni J.A. on a silver plaque. According to Perry Null, the hallmark is for Janet Amesole, who lived in the Beyuka household while growing up. Janet is a daughter of Madeline Beyuka. When she went out on her own Eddie Beyuka gave her several designs including the dancer, without the hoops. The inlay is a combination of flat and carved inlay.
The hoop dancer measures 2-1/4 long and 3/4 wide and weighs 8.5 grams. Size 7-1/2.
Excellent vintage condition. The exact age of the ring is unknown.
As is the case more often that not with the earlier Native American jewelry, this piece is not marked for silver content. However, it tests positive as coin silver or better. When I test jewelry for silver content, I never drop the testing solution directly on the piece of jewelry since the acid could damage the piece. Rather I rub the piece against a testing stone and drop the acid on the testing stone.
