>This gorgeous Santo Domingo turquoise, coral and sterling silver necklace was a combination effort between Kewa artists Lupe Pena and his daughter Nestoria Coriz. Lupe made traditional Kewa jewelry up to the age of 96, before dying in 2009. His daughter Nestoria saved his beads and used them in this necklace. These beads were made by Lupe in the 1980's from various Arizona turquoises. Nestoria made the rest of the necklace, including all the sterling silver findings, silver disks, barrels and beads.

The necklace measures about 24 end-to-end and hangs 16-1/2 inches from the back of the neck to the bottom of the jaclas. The jacla section is 5-3/4 inches long and can be removed from the necklace, so the necklace can be worn alone for a completely different look. Or the jaclas could be worn on a different necklace, like a coral necklace! The turquoise heishi beads graduate from about 3/8 inch to 3/16 inch. Stamped sterling silver barrels and some spiny oyster beads are interspersed at various points throughout the necklace. The jacla has a nice piece of coral set on the sterling silver barrel.

Brand new and in perfect condition. Certificate of Authenticity and gift box included with your purchase.
