Gold Acres was one of the more recent mining camps to become prominent in Lander County. The Gold Acres Mine was discovered in 1936, and closed in 1961, when operations folded and Gold Acres was abandoned. This stone was from a garage stash belonging to the Mauzy family (a well known turquoise mining family).
