This teardrop sterling silver rainbow casillica pendant was created by Navajo silversmith, Garrison Boyd. Rainbow Calsilica is a multicolored "stone" from Mexico that first came into the market in 2002. There is some controversy concerning whether these beautiful colors and banding are truly natural. First it was said it was a natural occurring stone from a mine in Chihuahua, Mexico. More recently I was told that this "gem" is a by-product from tile factories in Mexico, made from the colorful slurry which ran off onto the floors and into drain ponds. The hardened drippings were then chipped off the floors in chucks, looking like rocks. SO it appears to be a man-made "accidental" rock! Whatever it is, it is quite beautiful!
The pendant measures 1-7/8 long, including the silver bale, by 1-1/8 wide and weighs 10 grams.
Brand new in perfect condition. Hallmarked by the artist and also stamped Navajo & Sterling. Certificate of Authenticity included and gift box included.
