This is one of the Zuni Isabelle and Chauncy Simplicio's signature inlaid horse head bolo. A version of this bolo has been made by Isabelle and Chauncy Simplicio since the 1960's. Isabelle is quite elderly now and she is still making jewelry. This bolo is hallmarked IS and Zuni with an engraver. In any case, this is a top quality Zuni bolo and you won't be disappointed with it.
The bolo features a white Mother of Pearl horse head inlaid on a black jet background with a sterling silver bridle. There are genuine turquoise nuggets and fancy silver work adorning the bolo.
The bolo measures 1-7/8 tall by 1-5/8 wide. The black braided bolo tie has 1-7/8 long sterling silver bolo tips.
Hallmarked IS and Zuni with an engraver by the artist Isabelle Simplicio. It is not stamped sterling but we guarantee it to be sterling silver. Brand new and in perfect condition. Gift box and Certificate of Authenticity included with your purchase.
Matching buckle is available too.
You can see photos of this bolo from the 1960-70s on page 60 of the book "Zuni The Art and the People volume 1" by Ed & Barbara Bell, a copy of which I have here as the last photo.
