I am unsure of the exact age of this traditional Navajo womens blouse & skirt. But it is the REAL DEAL !
The blouse is handmade from burgundy velvet or velveteen and trimmed with silver buttons, butterflies and collar-tabs. The silver pieces test positive for sterling silver. The silver is tarnished but I will include a few silver polishing cloths, in case you want to shine it all up. The sleeves have a row of 8 silver buttons running straight up from the cuff. The front placket has 10 silver butterflies attached and the placket opens and closed with two snaps. The collar has two silver collar tabs attached. All the seams are finished with red seam tape.
The blouse is approx. size medium. The body of the blouse is 23 inches long, with 5-inch slits up the each side. The sleeves are about 21 inches long from the shoulder.
The purple ruffled skirt is made from satin or a similar fabric. The 2-1/2 inch wide waistband is 31 inches end to end, fastened with safety pins. The skirt is about 33 inches long and 360 inches wide at the bottom hem. There are two rows of white/silver bric-brac decoration. The bottom edge of the skirt has some slight fading.
Truly Excellent Condition, except for the afore-mentioned fading at the bottom of the skirt. But the ruffles hide this. Add a piece of true Navajo history to your collection!
