Pietersite is sometimes called Hawk's Eye or Eagle's Eye and was discovered by Sid Pieters in 1962. The structure of the fibrous streaks in pietersite can flow or exist in many directions side-by-side like bold paint strokes. Colors include various blues, golds and reds, that may appear together or alone. The fibrous color variations have a superb and striking chatoyancy, the bright and subtly changing shimmer of color that moves along the surface of a gemstone as it is viewed from varying angles.

L. Bruce Hodgins creates one of a kind jewelry now in collections all over the world. Becoming bored using the expected turquoise in jewelry, Hodgins incorporates exotic stones in his three dimensional concept jewelry. L. Bruce Hodgins builds the Cadillac in Indian jewelry using heavy gauge silver and unusual stones. Diverse in his abilities, with attention to quality and detail, Bruce does all his work from design to finish. Each piece of art is individually designed with a classic simplicity. Bruce's technique balances color, texture, shape and form in an innovative style that honors Native tradition.
