This Dead Pawn silver overlay & turquoise concho belt was recently obtained from a great little pawn shop in Gallup, New Mexico. All the jewelry from this pawn shop was pawned by Native Americans living in the local area. Gallup is the "pawn capital" of the Southwest, close to the Navajo and Zuni reservations.
This concho belt has a total of 11 hand made, silver overlay conchos (plus the buckle) made from sterling silver and set with genuine turquoise stones. There are five 2-1/2" by 2" conchos and six 1-1/2" by 2" conchos. The buckle measures 2-1/2" by 2". The conchos are affixed to the leather belt with copper slides and can be adjusted as needed.
The 1-3/8" wide black leather belt looks relatively new and has a total length is 52" end-to-end. There are holes punched at the 38", 42", 44", 46" & 48" position. But I can punch additional holes for you as needed.
The buckle is hallmarked AL with a Zia symbol and Sterling. I am unfamiliar with this hallmark, but I will keep researching. The exact age of this concho belt is unknown. Excellent condition.
