This elegant sterling silver & 14k gold overlay storyteller turtle pin/pendant was handmade by Santo Domingo silversmith, Joseph Coriz. The sun above the pueblo scene, the turtle's eyes and two "dots" on the turtle's body are 14K gold. (Indicated by the arrows on the third photo.)
The pin/pendant measures 2-1/2" long by 2" wide and weighs 32 grams. The bale can handle beads or a chain up to 1/4" wide.

Joseph Coriz's work is very distinctive and easily recognizable. Joseph Coriz was born into the Santo Domingo Pueblo in 1958. He was inspired by his parents and also by silversmith Vidal Aragon, who is known for his petroglyph designs. Joseph has combined the traditional methods of hand crafting jewelry with more contemporary ideas, developing his own unique style. He has won awards at many shows including the Santa Fe Indian Market & Heard Museum Art Show.
