Vintage 1940's Native American Turquoise Silver Concho Belt

Authentic vintage concho belt with 8 hand stamped conchos alternating with 9 silver "butterflies", circa 1940's. Turquoise stones. The conchos measure about 2" long by 1-1/2" wide. Narrow black leather belt. Item# 1704

$ 799.99     Available: 1     Back

This vintage concho belt has 8 hand stamped conchos, made from coin or sterling silver and set with genuine turquoise stones, alternating with 9 silver "butterflies". This belt was completely hand-made, back in the day when conchos were hand-cut, hand-formed, hand-stamped and the repousse work was hand-done. You can tell by looking at the conchos and butterflies..every one is uniquely different.

The conchos measure about 2" long by 1-1/2" wide, the butterflies measure 1" long by 1-3/4" wide, are affixed to the      leather belt with copper slides and can be adjusted as needed. The narrow 3/8" wide thick black leather belt measures 41" long with holes at the 36" thru 39" position. The belt weighs about 7-1/2 ounces in total.

The belt is unmarked as is often the case for Native American jewelry from this time period, but it tests positive as coin silver (.900/90%) or sterling silver (.925/92.5%). Excellent condition!

This fabulous vintage Native American handcrafted     turquoise and silver concho belt was obtained from friends of my family who own a well-respected Native American & Western Art auction house in New Mexico. They estimate that the belt is from the 1940's or 1950's at the latest.
