Here is an outstanding vintage Native American silver ring with a large genuine turquoise stone. The turquoise stone is a bright sky blue with dark matrix. Twisted silver rope around the stone and bold silver work all over the ring.

The face of    the  ring measures 1-5/8" by 1-1/2". Split shank with twisted silver wire running through the center. Weighs 22.3 grams.  Excellent vintage condition. From a private collection. circa 1970-80's. Size 9-1/4.

Hallmarked by the artist, Nelson Garcia. Unmarked as to silver content, as is common for Native American jewelry from this time period, however the silver tests positive as coin silver or better.

Nelson Garcia is a gold & silversmith from Santo Domingo Pueblo. Nelson makes exquisite silver and stone jewelry. He chooses beautiful pieces of stone and sets them in shapes that perfectly complement the markings and shadings in that piece of stone. His silver work is flawless. Nelson has won many awards from prominent Indian Markets including the Santa Fe Indian Market, Red Earth, Eiteljorg Museum Indian Market and the Tulsa Indian Arts Festival.

This ring is an early example of his work, dating from somewhere between the mid 1970's to early 1980's. He began his jewelry making career in 1974.
