Navajo Dead Pawn Native American Turquoise Silver Concho Belt - Unknown Artist

Dead Pawn sterling silver concho belt. 14 handmade conchos plus a larger silver concho buckle on 1' wide leather belt. Conchos look like " wheels". From Gallup, New Mexico pawn shop. Item#1703

$ 299.99     Available: 1     Back

This Dead Pawn silver concho belt was recently obtained from a great little pawn shop in Gallup, New Mexico. All the jewelry from this pawn shop was pawned by Native Americans living in the local area. Gallup is the "pawn capital" of the Southwest, close to the Navajo and Zuni reservations.

This concho belt has 14 hand made conchos, made from sterling silver and set with genuine turquoise stones - they look almost like wheels. Plus there is a larger 2" diameter "wheel" comprising the buckle. The conchos measure about 1-1/2" in diameter, made from heavy sterling silver, are affixed to the leather belt with copper slides and can be adjusted as needed. The 1" wide black leather belt total length is 52" end-to-end. Looks like no holes were ever punched on this belt that I see. I can punch holes for you as needed. The buckle is not marked for silver content but tests positive for coin silver or better. The belt weighs about 10 ounces in total. Exact age of the belt is unknown. Excellent condition.
