LONG SANTO DOMINGO NATIVE AMERICAN MOSAIC INLAY EARRINGS, RON & PETRA CHAVEZ

Three-dimensional Santo Domingo hand made mosaic earrings. Inlaid with a wide variety of stones in a four-sided column. 1-3/4" long, not counting the earwires. Created by Ronald & Petra Chavez Item #1328

$ 64.00     SOLD     Back

These contemporary Santo Domingo inlaid turquoise earrings were created by Ronald & Petra Chavez from turquoise and other natural semi-precious stones. I don't even know whether to call these inlay earrings. The are four-sided solid columns of stone, the diameter being smaller at the top than at the bottom - turquoise Rainbow Calsilica, sponge coral or spiny oyster, jet and a pale purple stone (sugalite perhaps). The light-weight earrings measure 1-3/4" long, not counting the earwires, and weigh about 3 grams each. Sterling silver ear-wires. Beautiful and unique!

Brand new and in perfect condition. Certificate of Authenticity and gift box included with your purchase.

About the artists: Ronald & Petra Chavez are a husband and wife jewelry team from Santo Domingo Pueblo who have been working together for many years, making traditional jewelry from stone & shell. They work together using a variety of techniques, including hand-cut beads, mosaic inlay and even silver-work. The settings are simple so they do not detract from the shape and color of the stones. Their slab earrings come in a range of sizes and in a variety of colors of turquoise, some with bands of mosaic inlay, but each perfectly matched. In 1997, The School of American Research in Santa Fe honored Petra and Ronald, interviewing them and acquiring their work for their permanent collection.
