DEAD PAWN NAVAJO SILVER OVERLAY EARRINGS by Stanley Curley

Big round silver overlay earrings showing a Navajo hogan and other Native American symbols. Hallmark of Stanley Curley, Tommy Singer's brother-in-law. Item#9628

$ 55.00     Available: 1     Back

These Native American handcrafted sterling silver earrings were recently obtained from my favorite little pawn shop in Gallup, New Mexico. All the jewelry from this pawn shop was pawned by Native Americans living in the local area. Gallup is the "pawn capital" of the Southwest, close to the Navajo and Zuni reservations, and you must make it a point to visit sometime.

Back to the earrings: They are big, yet lightweight, measuring 7/8" wide, and weighing 3.5 grams each. That's a nickel shown there for reference. The detailed silver overlay design shows a Navajo hogan and other symbols. Hallmarked -N by the artist and also stamped Sterling. According to Barton's "Hallmarks of the Southwest", this hallmark belongs to Stanley Curley, Tommy Singer's brother-in-law. The exact age of the earrings is unknown. Excellent condition.
