Navajo artist Sammy Smith is one of the top micro-inlayers in Gallup, New Mexico and yet his work is still relatively affordable, compared to the works of Clayton Tom, Erwin and Ervin Tsosie.

This reversible 2-sided pendant is inlaid with a multitude of colorful stone and shells in an incredibly detailed design. Semiprecious stones, including turquoise, lapis, denim lapis, gaspeite, spiny oyster, coral, jasper, mother of pearl, sugilite and small dots of sterling silver are meticulously inlaid on a background of Acoma jet black. One side of the pendant has a kachina/yei scene and the other side is a Monument Valley scene, both with starry night skies.

The main pendant piece measures 1-3/4" long by 1-1/4" wide. Including the bale, the piece is almost 3" long, almost 1/2" thick and weighs 34 grams. The over-sized sterling silver bale, with a stamped design, can accommodate a chain or silver beads up to 1/2" wide.
